Finding a new normal
IT Industry in India has almost completed its one lifecycle.
The new normal has to be something which can give what the customer wants in this fast changing time.
Technology is fast shifting gears and cloud, shared infrastructure and pay as you go are becoming new normal for IT service providers. It would not be wrong to estimate that the new normal would mean far lower cost of IT by far more effective and efficient.
“India as a country would get impacted due to short sighted approach of these glorified IT leaders who at best can be now called opportunists. ”
Traditional body shopping models are already being challenged when they are compared with a better run captive setup where getting 50% cost benefit is normal. Cloud, public or company owned private clouds are giving far more effective infrastructure services than what was happening all along.
Applications are being made available on cloud and offered on pay as you go model, ensuring effective utilization of investment in IT.
Indian IT industry has bet rather too much on body shopping than what should have been. There are no credible intellectual properties which have been created by any of the big IT companies in India unlike their western counterparts’ although they had access to a lot of cash and time. The time has virtually run out now and there are no leaders in sight who could show the way. India as a country would get impacted due to short sighted approach of these glorified IT leaders who at best can be now called opportunists.
Indian IT industry desperately needs several Steve Jobs else the road forward is going to be very bumpy.
